FARNET is a not for profit association of leading edge Internetworking technology companies. Established in 1987 as the Federation of American Research Networks, the mission of FARNET is national advocacy for Internetworking with a primary focus on the education, research, and related communities.
FARNET is an executive forum for the exchange of information about the Internet and its applications and services, and acts as a catalyst for the transfer of leading edge information infrastructure technology.
Offers frequent educational programs and strategic workshops for its members and external organizations where common issues and problems are addressed. Works with other national and international organizations to improve the quality of information and services available to network users. Provides information about networking to interested consumers, the media, and decision-makers. Provides a national forum for the discussion of key technical and policy issues.
