About FARNET

FARNET is a not for profit association of leading edge Internetworking technology companies. Established in 1987 as the Federation of American Research Networks, the mission of FARNET is national advocacy for Internetworking with a primary focus on the education, research, and related communities.

FARNET is an executive forum for the exchange of information about the Internet and its applications and services, and acts as a catalyst for the transfer of leading edge information infrastructure technology.

FARNET:

  • Offers frequent educational programs and strategic workshops for its members and external organizations where common issues and problems are addressed.
  • Works with other national and international organizations to improve the quality of information and services available to network users.
  • Provides information about networking to interested consumers, the media, and decision-makers.
  • Provides a national forum for the discussion of key technical and policy issues.
